Scarab amulets

symbol of two largest scarabs have beneficial hieroglyphic inscriptions. All are made of a limestone and quartzite composition stone with aged colours.

The large scarab -

Dimensions - Length - 9cm - 3-1/4 Width - 6-1/2 cm - 2-3/4 Height - 3 cm / 1-1/4 inches

This finely shaped scarab has underneath, a typical middle kingdom scroll work design surrounding three hieroglyphs. At the top is Ra the sun god represented as a disc , the Nefer sign in the middle (that which is good) and the ankh at the bottom - a symbol of life and fertility.

 

 

The medium sized scarab -

Dimensions - Length - 7cm / 3 Width - 4.5 cm /1-3/4 - 3 cm -1-1/4 inches

This scarab has fine lines on the outer wing casing and a highly decorative selection of important hieroglyphs in a traditional format underneath.

At each end of the hieroglyphic grouping are the protective eyes of Horus.

In the very center is a djed pillar of Osiris. A symbol of strength and balance.

Flanking the djed are two nefer symbols also a featured glyph on the large scarab.

Floating above the Djed is the hieroglyph \'Nub\' which symbolizes gold, the flesh of the gods.

 

 

The small scarab has finely incised wing casing and compact
