This statue is an ancient masterpiece. Her cherub like features and heart shaped face have made this piece famous. I have carefully recreated her to reveal the subtle remaining pigments that cling to the original fragment and this is a time consuming method but the result is ruined beauty.
Just a hint of the original painted decoration compels you to imagine that which is lost. An intact fragment of thick flesh coloured paint on the outer edge of the right eye preserves a wisp of the eye make up.
The smallest sliver of blue can be seen on what was once a brightly coloured collar on the original. Faint arcs of red show where the bands of the collar encircled the neck.
Just who is depicted is a little frustrating but one can deduce the most likely candidate is Ankhesenamun.
Formerly Ankhesenpaaten. Tutankhamun\'s future Queen.
The artistic style of the late Amarna period radiates from this piece and would suggest a dating to the last years of Akhenaten\'s reign through to the earliest years of Tutankhamun.
If you compare the coronation statue of Tutankhamun that is sometimes available in the store, you will see a very strong connection to the style of the Amarna princess.
