Regency Three-Piece Sterling Silver Tea Set,hallmarkedLondon, June-August 1815, by Solomon Hougham (1746-1818; free 1786), includinga teapot, h. 6-1/4\", l. 11-3/4\", an open sugar bowl, h. 3-3/8\",dia. 5-1/2\", and a cream jug, h. 3-1/2\", dia. 3-3/4\", each ofsquat spherical form with broad gadrooning, leaf-and-dart edging andacanthus-crested handle(s), the pot with hinged, domed lid and andacanthus-topped spout of square section, each piece engraved on the body withthe opposing crest and arms of Baldock impaling Durrant. Weight 40.70 total troy ozs.

Thearmorial here is that of William Baldock (1791-1854) and his wife Louisa MariaDurrant (1792-1819), who were married on August 22, 1814 in Salehurst, Sussex.Baldock was a member of the Kentish gentry and the couple resided at CoolingCastle, Rochester.
