Description:An exquisite antique neoclassic samovar. The piece stands a majestic 17.25 inches tall and 12.5 inches wide. Every part of its design embodies the grand elements ofthe neoclassic movement, circa 1780/1820 period. There is a Sphinx at the lid\'s handle with greek key border and underneath where the burner can also be used. As the lower Sphinx can be removed with a screw; this was probably mounted when the samovar was not in use and the piece was simply displayed in the home. The lid has a beaded border and there arelies holding handles on either side andmounted at the top of each of the column-like supports; which are have lion\'s feet at the base. The exact attention to detail is illustrated even at the ball feet whichhave engraved concentric circles. This is truly a masterful piece and perfectfor the collector of samovars albeit Russian or English.
