Vintage French Victorian Portrait of the HUBAK LADY with a plush, deep-red velvet border and an antiqued, gold-colored composite frame.\"A Cameo Creation\" RARE FIND! The HUBAK LADY is very difficult to find with this specific Ribbon style frame in such great condition. \"A Cameo Creation - Hubak Lady\" framed portrait wall plaque. (typically found in square frames or oval frames with either plain Fleur-de-lis style or flattened.)
- The concept of \'A Cameo Creation\' wall plaques was modeled upon highly collectible Victorian cameos, which were diminutive portraits hand painted on ivory or porcelain. These lovely antiques were out of reach of much of the American public due to the fact that they were rare and quite expensive.
- \'A Cameo Creation\' took the opportunity to reproduce these highly sought after Victorian originals and marketed their pieces to major department stores. Many stores stocked the popular wall plaques in their home decor sections, enabling customers to decorate their homes with high quality cameo reproductions offered at affordable prices.
- \'A Cameo Creation\' artworks were typically taken from existing portraits of aristocratic ladies painted by well known, talented Victorian artists. This particular piece features the oval image of Hubak Lady originally painted by an unknown artist.
MATERIALS AND CONDITION OF ITEM:The portrait itself is held with a milgrain gold tone metal border and set on a deep-red velvet border. The piece is finished with an ornate gold composite frame and is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or fading. The back of the piece is original and comes complete with all of its original hardware and hanging apparatus. The oval label with scalloped edges and features the image of a female bust immediately above the words \"A CAMEO CREATION.\" The other label is rectangular and reads: \"Hubak Lady\" in black ink. The frame measures 6\" tall by just over 5\" wide and is 1\" deep.
