Extraordinary 19th Century Antique Cyrillic Russian Padlock w/Original Key:

This very rare, 19th century Russian Padlockwith its original key was hand crafted by a master locksmith and was literallybuilt like a fortress, bearing the maker’s name and mark which is stamped twiceon the shackle . . . one is located at the shackle’s apex and the other atapproximately the 3 o’clock shackle position . . . you can see a close up ofeach of these different stamps as you peruse the photos.

These marks reflect the pride of the master craftsmanwho forged this magnificent lock . . . very few people have been privileged tosee a lock of this style and historical significance.

This amazing museum piece has a wonderfully aged patinaand was fashioned with great strength to afford extra security . . . one canonly imagine what important facilities it may have secured . . . possibly evena Siberian Gulag!

This is a marvelous collectible, hailing from thesecret realm of our cold war nemesis, the old communist empire. Examples like this beauty are highly soughtafter, particularly with the added mystique delivered by the Cyrillic letteringon all 4 sides . . . to me, just holding this piece of history in hand is moresoothing than good medicine ;o)

This baby still works beautifully well, butI always handle a rarity of this age with great respect . . . fullyinsert the key and then turn it 90 degrees clockwise to release theshackle. As you can see in the photos,the mirrored bits on both sides of the key, rotate the stacked, internal discs,allowing the shackle to be removed.
