Extremely Rare Islamic Ottoman 18K Gold Enamel God & Muhammed Museum Quality Quran Charm Pendant ! The pendant is 19th century Ottoman. In the first image on the attachment ring is marked 18 in Arabic which is for 18 K gold, the attachment ring also has a noter mark which I could not decipher but it seemed to be in hebrew?! Weighs 1.3 grams. The Quran dimensions are approximately 1.25 x 1 cm (0.5 x 6/16 inches) excluding the attachment basel. There is also a mark on the side which would represent the binder but that is somewhat faded. Such pendants would only be seen in Museums, and if any are still left in circulation they would be handed down from mother to daughter or father to son. To find one in such condition with no enamel chipped off is in itself amazing. There are many modern made copies in the market, and these pendants are intended to encompass a miniature Quran or a Quran passage, intended for protection and good luck. The front of the pendant charm reads Allah which is Arabic for God, and the other side of the charm in beautiful Islamic calligraphy it is written Muhammad. The craftsmanship is superb where the sides that are supposed to have the pages the gold gives that impression ! This beauty is hand crafted and would make a beautiful addition to any Islamic collection, pendants do not get more Islamic than this, for in Islam calligraphy is halal, kosher, so this beauty is true to God ! Please feel free to check out my other Islamic Art Pieces !
*Buyers beware for I have seen many copies and fakes of this little beauty!Gothic-Renaissance Italyhaving accomplished a high mind set in intellectual thought, engaged in trade and cultural exchanges where ideas flowed back and forth which advanced western progress in certain aspects, and one such example iscursive writing. TheGothic-Renaissance Italians, always admiring everything beautiful, were very attracted toIslamic calligraphyin which the alphabets are connected and thus were inspired and influenced to establish a western calligraphy were the western alphabets were to become beautifully connected. With decades and centuries of refinement, cursive writing evolved which then spread like wildfire all the way toEnglandso that even our belovedShakespeareemployed it. In brief Islamic calligraphy inspired and brought about western cursive writing.
