This is an Extremely Rare Large Museum Light Blue/GreySt. Andrews Staurolite Cross/Fairy Stone withRed/Brown Almandine Garnets from Stuart, Va. There is some red/brown on this stone. The main crystal of the main crossmeasures7/8inch long x5/8 inch wide x5/16inch thick. The secondary crystal or cross measures13/16inch long x7/16inch widex7/16 inch thick.This specimen has Good Symmetry,goodcrystals,some soft and some nice strong lines,over a dozen nice smallgarnets,some slight luster and some slight translucence.There are some contacts on this specimen where it no doubt touched other crosses, but the overall appearance is good and the aesthetics are good as well. It weighs about7.61grams. This specimen wouldenhanceany collection.

This stone has been meticulously cleaned and some gneiss has been removed, but if you handle it much,the blue crystalswill absorb the oil and moisture from your hands andvisibly darkenbecause of the aluminum hydroxide, which is used in antiperspirant and Calamine Lotion(absorbs urushiol oil of poison ivy and poison oak). Just wash it off with Dawn dish washing detergent to remove the oil and let dry. It will return to it\'s original blue color.
