Extremely rare fancy 1830-4 Derby Georgian flower encrusted porcelain oil lamp? :

We are listing this pretty little extremely rarely seen hand gilded and hand painted flower encrusted 1830-1834 Georgian porcelain oil lamp? (with its matching lid) which was made by the world famous Derby Pottery. The piece is marked on its base with the crimson crown mark with a fancy letter D under it which was used by Derby from 1830-1834 (see page 39 of DERBY PORCELAIN 1748-1848 AN ILLUSTRATED GUIDE). While I believe this is an oil lamp, I did receive a copy of a page from a 1920s CONNOISSEUR magazine from a fellow collector which referred to this particular design as a rare pap boat. Either way this unusual piece is very uncommon to say the least - I have not been able to find any other examples of these Derby flower encrusted oil lamps or pap boats either online or in the reference books, but I have personally seen another one just like the listed one, so I feel certain a few others must exist. The piece has a very fancy shape (imagine a 2000 year old Roman oil lamp with a tail like handle added to it), it is beautifully gilded with fancy designs on its spout and handle, the body has been enameled in blue and then colorful hand made hand painted flowers have been applied all over it. The matching lid has a very pretty little flower blossom knop. The lamp is 3.75 inches tall to the top of its handle, almost 5.25 inches long, it is encrusted with beautiful hand painted flowers, makes a very interesting and pretty little display piece, and it is in very good overall condition. As always with these delicate little flower encrusted Georgian pieces, there are losses to the edges of the flowers. Age has also lightly browned the originally white handle and spout, making them more of a cream color (and probably also dulled the intensity of the blue background a little as well). Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. An extremely rarely seen marked example of a very unusual flower encrusted Derby Georgian porcelain oil lamp or pap boat.
