Here we have a BEAUTIFUL RARE pair of Antique Victorian (probably fromaround 1850) HAND PAINTED Ewers or Vases with ORNATE Metal Bases and Spouts that may be brass or bronze.The spout, handle, collar andbase are very ORNATELY DETAILED metal and a magnetwill not stick to it. The handle is just FABULOUS with FANTASTIC SCROLLS andeven a CHERUB HEAD on top! There are even cherubic faces on the under part ofthe spout and the foot too and all kinds of SCROLLS, panels and INTRICATEDETAILING! There may have been gilding on the metal but it is worn from all theyears. The center is porcelain and has aBEAUTIFULscene with two HUGE flowers in the forefront that are purple and yellow andthey have long leaves (I am sorry but I don\'t know the type of flower for sure butthey may be Irises). You can see trees and more in the background and whatlooks like water, maybe a lake. The porcelain parts have mirror images but areslightly different because they are hand painted. Each one has a brass collar onboth sides of the porcelain piece. The bolt on the bases is the only thing thatthe magnet will stick to and they are a bit rusty but they cannot be seen unless you pick the ewers up and look under them. The magnet won\'t stick to anything else. Each ewer or vase measures 14 1/4\" tall at the top of the cherub head on the handle. Measures 6 1/2\" from spout to handle and Thewidest part of the porcelain center is about 4 1/2\" in diameter. The basemeasures 3 3/4\" in diameter. Nomaker that I can find. Condition is verygood for something this old. There are no chips or cracks in the porccelain. The porcelain each have a vertical raised line from when it was made which you can feel more than see. One ewer has a 3/8\" crack on the side of the metal spout (please see it in the last photo). This ewer also rocks a bit.The other one may have rocked a little but someone has put a little bit of some kind of claylike material on the base (can\'t be seen) and it doesn\'t rock. This ewer is a little loose but appears to befine.The metal is discolored from age and is to be expected and one of the bases is a little darker than the other one. This is a VERY OLD pair!
