FABULOUS IMPERIAL HIGHLY DECORATIVE CHINESE CLOISONNE COVERED DISHThis huge and heavy Cloisonne covered bowl is an inherited item and would be a fabulous addition to a Cloisonne collection. Valued at 4-6000 GBP by Sothebys when first inherited in 2003.
Please study the photos to appreciate the intricate cloisonne detail and various patterns skillfully applied by the Artisan.
The base material is a mixture of copper and gilded bronze. The outer area of each part of the dish feature a band of Imperial yellow cloisonne interspersed with jingtai blue.
There are extensive floral scrolls combined with lucky bats and double happiness symbol.
The lid of the bowl has a raised hand carved inset jade dragon medallion chasing the flaming pearl of wisdom.
Inside there is the delightful surprise of a mirror image design of several Chinese mons in rich cobalt blue and ming pink among more scroll work.
The base has beautiful gilded scrollwork
In very good overall condition, the cloisonne is pitted which is usual in older pieces of Cloisonne and I have tried to show this in the photos.
