DescriptionAn absolutely stunning large-sized,very heavy Englishantique solid sterling silver cigaretteboxby the silversmith John Rose,in pristine clean condition and with full English silver hallmarks forBirmingham 1959.Superb quality sterling silver box, looks totally unused and is very rare to find in this condition. Impressivesize, witha hinged silver lid and decorated with handsome engine-turned engraving and with an attractive protruding floral border edge. Rests on 4 silver bracket feet and inside has its original mint condition cedar wood lined interior and wood divider. Also comes with the original removable black velvet liner which can be fitted inside if it is to be used as a jewellery box. Has its originalblack leather covering on the underside of the base and is very heavy, weighing approx.715 grams, including wood & velvet lining. No engraved presentation inscriptions or monograms, has a lion crest on the lid and also has a small raised solid silver plate over the cartouche so possibly has had an inscription professionally covered at one time.
