This is a fantastic authentic Russian Imperial sword. I bought it a while ago from the granddaughter of the owner. She was Armenian, born and raised in US. She told me her grandfather brought the sword with him when they immigrated. I am selling only due to financial reasons.

The sword has definitely seen some action. The scabbard has original leather, the end is worn dented -- a sure sign of use. Some decoration details on the scabbard are missing. Thebelt parts are original, for the most part. The handle is made of horn, with the top part showing signs of repair -- also a sign of use in the battle -- top of shashqua handle is one of the most stressed parts of the weapon, and would be one of the first parts to be damaged with use.

The blade is in surprisingly good shape, with now rust or significant corrosion, if any. Very nice balance and attractive curvature. The markings are sharp and preserved remarkably. The blade is marked crowned \"N 2\" on one side (for \"Nicolas the Second\", Russian emperor at the time) andan eagle withthe name of the maker, A. Shabanov, on the other. From what Iwas able to find out,Shabanov was a jewelry maker in Vladikavkaz, who\'s workshopmade a very limited number of swords for Russian officers, once Russia became involved in WWI. His swords are of very high quality and VERY scarce. I believe the only saw one selling at an sale in Russia -- it went for over $20K.

The sword is36.5\"long overall, with blade measured 30\" long and 1.25\" wide.
