Description....I am pleased to present this late Qing period Chinese carved spinach jade lidded vase along with a spinach jade stand as well nicely executed in the Mughal style showing very detailed lotus flowers, leaves and trailing vines performed in high relief work with a good old hand polish. This lidded jade vase was produced in China sometime during the later part of the Qing period or round c1880 to c1915 although it may very well be a bit earlier. The vase is quite large being just a bit under 15\" high without the jade stand and with the stand it measures 16-1/4\" in height and would normally weight somewhere around 12lbs to 14lbs but has been very well hollowed and only weighs 6.85lbs plus the stand. The color is a true spinach green having some lighter green mottling in areas but is mostly a good deep green and the stand which matches the color well was a later addition and I feel adds a great amount of interest instead of a normal wood stand. The lid has a adult foo lion along with its cub with a lower border of lotus design. The body is of a flattened spade style shape having a pair of lion head handles containing loose rings in a good bold size with the carved designs being of a raised relief effort having a deeply hollowed foot which fits perfectly into the carved and pierced stand which is also well hollowed. This vase is without a doubt of investment quality so offer to win as the winner will not be disappointed.
Condition....Excellent with no faults that I could see other than light surface wear and a very small amount of a few rough edges where the lid sits on otherwise excellent.
