A fine old Northwest Coast Tlingit Indian hand carved and painted cedar totem pole dating from the early 1900\'s. The totem features well carved and painted imagery featuring a seated bear, raven and another bear on the bottom. Deeply carved and finely painted in original red, black and green. The totem is attributed to the famous Tlingit carver by the name of James Rudolph (1858-1933) from Juneau Alaska . For illustrated examples of this carvers work and a picture of the artist in his please Carvings and Commerce model totem poles 1880-2010 by Michael Hall and Pat Glascock pages 88-90. See illustration #47 for a totem with identical imagery and dated 1915-1920. The totem stands 10\" tall x2\" wide and is stamped on the reverse Nugget Shop Jewelry and Curios from Wallie 1930\" to the back. The Nugget shop was a famous curio shop that operated in Juneau in the early 1900\'s. The totem is in very good original condition with a small sliver of the base is missing from the back side, still stands well otherwise nice aged patina from great age and careful handling.
