On offer today is a very rare set of12meat forks inDOG NOSEpattern.Assayed in London,1895 byhighly sought aftermakerofsilverJohn Newton Mappin (as in Mappin and Webb). Year letterU. Hallmarks are deep and clear and stamped to the back of the stems.They are just over7.5 inches in length and weigh ahefty843 grams (27.11 troy ounces) and each piece is made of very thick gauge silver throughout.Thetineshavenowearat all and are unworn being long, sharp and perfectly even. They areengravedtothe front with a lovelybird head crest, definitely no erasures either.

Rightly or wrongly I decided to list this largerather than splitting them up into sets of six.
