A fine small 19th century French ebony and boullebracket or mantel clock made in the late 17th century style. This isa type of clock commonly known as a‘Religieuse’.
Case veneered in Ebony with red boulle panels with brassstringing.
Polished and gilded mounts throughout the case.
Case with glazed side windows enabling the movement to beseen.
Dial with polished engraved gilt brass chapter ring withgilt brass cherub spandrels all mounted on a dial plate covered with blackvelvet.
Chapter ring engraved with each minute of the hour.
Pair of beautifully pierced and engraved gilt brass hands.
Good quality week runningpendulum movement striking the hours and a single stroke at the halfhours.
Bell with beautiful silvery tone.

Condition.
The case has been restored andre-polished in recent years and is in very good sound condition as a result.
The movement is complete and ingood running order keeping good time.
[It should be noted that thependulum may need re-rating after the disturbance caused during shipping.
There is minimal or no wear that Ican see on the movement.
Winding key, door key and pendulum included with the clock.
