Today I offer for your consideration a Russian pre-revolution jewel from the house of Carl Faberge. As seen in the photographs, this brooch features a natural pearl measuring approximately 6mm in diameter surrounded by 8 rose cut diamonds mounted in a star shaped motif. There are 8 additional rose cut diamonds spaced around the rococo wave patterned circumference. This style was repeated on the lid of one of Faberge\'s Imperial eggs. The brooch is approximately 22mm in diameter. It is marked \"Faberge\" in cyrillic on the pin although the mark was poorly struck and only the lower half of the letters are legible. it is further struck on the side of the \"G\" shaped pin catch with 56 for the Russian gold purity of 14kt and crossed anchors for St. Petersburg. I have located an original Faberge design for a similar brooch in a Christie\'s catalog dated Tuesday, November 19, 1991 and have posted a photograph of both the catalog cover and the design on page 155.
