Fabulous Exceptional Large Navajo Ring Royston Turquoise Foliate Leaves Size 7:
$399.00

Welcome.

Offered...  a stunning mid-Century Navajo turquoise ring entirely hand-crafted with beautiful silver and wire work. There is elegance to this piece in its “asymmetrical balance.”

The narrow end of the turquoise has four foliate leaves, two on each side of the stone each with finely, indeed delicately, chiseled veins. The single raindrop at the end of the ring is centered between the ends of the first pair of leaves, whose tips then touch the base of the second pair. The leaves have a gentle arc, which appears to mimic the arc of the wider end of the stone. The leaf tips of the second pair meet at the centered single raindrop, which also touches the center band on each side of the tri-split shank. On the other side of the center raindrop, there is lovely silver wirework, which follows the same arc of the leaves and even on the wire work we find an additional decorative framing wire. The wide end of the stone ends with three silver raindrops.

This ring is well thought out in its design. The three raindrops balance the foliate leaves while the single raindrop balances the delicate wirework. The oxidized silver works in a visual positive/negative space manner, becoming a “balance-maker” in this design. The single raindrop has more space around it, while the trio of raindrops has less space. The matte oxidized silver beautifully sets off the brighter silver and, visually creates a frame for the bezel set turquoise cabochon.

The turquoise stone in this ring, which I believe to be from the wonderful Royston mine, is gorgeous. The turquoise with blues, greens, yellows, ochres and caramel colors, contains an entire forest of beauty and envelops our hearts. The silver band across the stone was a technique used by artisans on very old pieces of turquoise to cover a natural crack in what they considered to be a very good stone. I’ve always thought of this as not only beautiful, but as a way to honor and take care of a special piece of our natural world. It is a Badge of Courage celebrating the beauty of imperfection with a technique creating harmonious integration into design.

Typical of the times, this ring is unsigned and not marked for silver content; it is either coin (.900) or Sterling silver (.925 silver).

Vintage, collectible, and wearable, this ring is in excellent vintage condition with the stone securely set in its bezel and the silver sturdy and lustrous.

Bold and graceful, this ring is a fabulous piece of Native American artistic history at your fingertips …

A vintage piece, I have not cleaned or polished the tarnish and patina of age; it would shine up nicely when it\'s yours. Rubbing a bit on the raised areas will make everything pop even more. The shadowboxed area was always intended to be dark should not be polished, all of that dark and light movement frames the stone and makes the gorgeous turquoise coloration with so many vibrant colors reach out to grab our hearts and souls, as it did the silversmith whose refined silver work so greatly honors the stone.

I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.

Everything I sell comes from my personal collection or is something that I would include in my personal collection. Most pieces are museum worthy and gallery suitable, sold to you at great pricing. I vet every item carefully for quality and condition, and offer you the best.
