FANTASTIC 1/6 PLATE TINTYPE OF A GIRL & HER DOLL DRESSED ALIKE - SHARP & TINTED - Rarely do you ever see where a girl and her doll are wearing almost the exact same clothing. In this sixth plate tintype, we know this little girls mother went to great lengths to not only sew a dress for her daughter, but made an almost exact miniature one for her dolly as well. Their dress are both off the shoulder in style and have the same tonality. Dark decorative elements are mirrored in the dolls dress to the light girls outfit. You have to love how she clings to her best friend. I especially love the girls ringlets of hair and her own large set of sparkling doll-like eyes. The style of their dresses date this tintype to the Civil War time period. The child wears a locket around her neck in which the photographer or his assistant applied a layer of gild and warmth to her cheeks. A wonderful tintype for anyone doll collector or images of dolls. The sixth plate is in wonderful condition and housed in a Civil War period paper mat. The mat has some typical soiling, but still in very nice shape. The image is so sharp you can even see the facial features on the doll and the child\'s eyes at the very same time.
