Fantastic Vintage Singer 222K Featherweight Free-Arm Portable Sewing Machine:

Acquired from an elderly lady who has recently gone into a nursing home and had owned this Singer machine from new - this very sought after model of sewing machine has been really well looked after and respected as borne out by my scans. It is in excellent working order including the light, and is in EXEMPLARY CONDITION both mechanically and visually.( Please note the pictures were taken outside on a bright day - a couple of my scans, especially No.3, when enlarged, give the illusion of scraped or missing enamel ; this is simply LIGHT REFLECTION. Rest assured the enamel work is in near pristine condition without damage or any re-paint or touching up). It has its original foot controller and comes with a Singer boxed attachment. It comes with the original carry case which is in good order with both catches operating fine. The serial number stamped to the bottom is EP543224 which according to the Singer database dates it to 1959, and this coincides to when the old lady originally bought it. There is no Instruction book but manuals can easily be downloaded from the internet, and various further tools and add-on accessories are widely available for this model. Just to answer a few questions. This is an original UK machine that operates on the UK standard 240 VOLTS - however I would have thought it can be used on other voltage via a mains transformer converting it to utilise other voltages. However, I am not an electrician, so please make your own enquiries regarding suitability in your own country. Many thanks.

JUST TO RE-ASSURE EVERYONE, THE LINE THAT CAN BE SEEN ON THE FOLDING PLATFORM NEAR ITS EDGE (VISIBLE IN A COUPLE OF THE SCANS) IS IN FACT A PIECE OF COTTON COMING FROM THE NEEDLE. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT A CRACK TO THE METAL. ENLARGEMENT OF THE SCANS MAKES THIS MORE CLEAR.
