This is a true folk art masterpiece. It can be classified either as a scherenschnitte or simply as a paper cut silhouette . But with the hand colored accents its more than that. All the images you see are paper cut, as is the grass which has been colored and cut to imitate grass ... something I\'ve never seen in a silhouette or a scherenschnitte. And she\'s in perfect condition and I believe in its original frame. The frame\'s glass is wavy and clearly 19th C, and the more contemporary nails you see holding in the backboard are there merely to reenforce 19th c cut nail points that are no longer sufficient due to the backboard\'s shrinkage from age. Note by the way that pictures 3 through 11 are of the scherenschnitte taken out of its frame. As for dimensions, she\'s 13 1/2\" x 11 1/2\", with sight dimensions of 10\" x 8\". Unfortunately, I have no provenance on this wonderful piece. In any event, guaranteed to be 19th century -- most likely first half -- it\'s being offered here as a buy it now with free domestic shipping.
