2307Great pair of chalkware bookends in the Federal Eagle style. Gold eagles perched on red bases with gold stars & trim. Bottoms are simply marked \"Made in Italy.\" Great pieces to mix with Americana decor or to secure your military history books.Bookends themselves aren\'t that heavy, but they feature a folding metal plate. When the plate\'s down, the books rest on it, adding weight / resistance to the books so they don\'t move / slide. You can take the plate off if you don\'t want to use these as bookends. Would make nice decorative pieces as well. (The plates are attached by screws.)Condition: vintage, possibly antique, pre-owned. One of the bookends is in very nice condition, with just the slightest chip on the beak. Other bookend has a flap chip on the eagle\'s leg & tip of the beak.
