Offered is an incredible antique Georgian/Early Victorian circa 1820 to 1830\'s work of art. This necklace features 13 strands of tiny 1mm coral beads with an ornate 15k gold (tested) cannetille filigree framed coral cameo. The cameo is finely carved in high relief and has no damage. It is surrounded by 4 coral beads carved to look like grape bunches. The filigree work remains in undamaged, unbent condition and has no repairs. It measures 15 wearable inches in length, and the cameo in frame clasp measures 1 1/8\" by 1\". The clasp is in excellent working condition. This piece weighs 23 grams. It looks as if the strands have been reinforced with wire connecting to the clasp. These tiny beads are strung on very fine silk thread, which is tied off at various places along the strands, with little frays here and there. They really are not noticeable. The hand craftsmanship in this piece is amazing something that we do not see today in modern jewelry. This is a wearable, but very delicate piece of jewelry requiring gentle handling that is almost 200 years old. Please keep this in mind when considering purchase. Would make a beautiful display piece in any fine antique jewelry collection, or stunning piece to wear on very special occassions.
