A fabulous George IV solid silver chased snuff box by the famous maker Nathaniel Mills. The box is rectangular form, with a chased floral border and sides. There is engine turned decoration to the front and back and a vacant cartouche in the centre. The lid opens to reveal a gilded interior, with a two generation engraved dedication to David Waddington snr and jnr; the latter was an MP. There are hallmarks on the top of the inside of the lid, on the inside of the bottom.

Hallmarks: The box is English sterling silver hallmarked for Birmingham c1831(Anchor, George IV tax mark, probable date letter h). The maker\'s mark \'NM\' refers to the silversmith Nathaniel Mills.

Dimensions: It is c.8.3cm wide, 5.5cm deep, and c3cm high. It weighs 162g

Condition: The box generally is in very good condition. There is a very small amount of damage on the hinge on the far right corner (looking from the back). This does not effect the lid, which opens and closes very tightly and snugly. Chased decoration is very crisp. No dings or repairs.
