Finest Antique Japanese SATSUMA 薩摩焼 Hand Painted Pictorial Large Plate

from early 1900\'s, Taisho Era ( 1912-1926 )

elaborate multi - color & gold art work all over distinctive creamy beige crackled glaze.

Features gorgeous raised minute decoration densely outlined with gilding and depicting famous Japanese motif with two Pheasants resting on a boulder below sakura tree, surrounded with peonies, amazingpurple flowers and green grass.

Beautifully composed, meticulously hand painted inpolychromatic enamel, invery worm earth tones with gold accents - all highlighted in gold overa classical Satsumasoftoff white to cream colored slightly crackled glaze ground..

The edge is trimmed in traditional for Satsuma dark red & gold geometric design.

The plate has two apertures on the back for hanging.

It has very rare unusual original Red & Gold Satsuma Kiln Mark underneath with SATSUMA SHIMAZU FAMILY CREST inside of cartouche and KOSHIDA MARK - one of the best Satsuma artists at the time.

Attributed most likely back to the very late Meiji to early Taisho Era, about 1880 - 1915...

Measurements:9 3/4\" - across in the widest part ( 15.2 cm )

CONDITION:Considering its age absolutely excellent condition, we did not find any chips, cracks, breaks, repairs or discolorations....
