Fine Meissen Porcelain Exotic Bird & Flowers Inkwell Desk Tray

c. 3rd quarter 19th century.

Round fluted & scalloped shape pots on rectangular tray with upturned shaped edge & raised rims for pot bases. Comprising a sand pot 2 5/8\" dia x 1 1/2\"h with cupped pierced shaker top & an ink pot & cover 2 3/4\" dia x 2 1/8\"h on tray 8 5/8\" x 6 1/8\" x 1 1/8\"h.

Beautiful blue underglaze intricate pattern of vines, leaves & stylized flowers around rim with interior rectangular blue star-dot-cross hatch band frame enclosing a center design of an exotic bird, chrysanthemum pair & stylized rock formation with foliation. Painted overglaze in orage-red & gilt.

Blue underglaze crossed swords with pommels mark of the Royal Manufactory Meissen in use from c.1850-1924.

Inner rim of ink pot repaired, otherwise excellent with a bit of wear to gilt at rim edge; no chips, cracks, hairlines.
