A Carved Anglo Indian Box

This Anglo Indian box is constructed from solid sandalwood

the top sides front and back are profusely carved,

the carving has a floral & foliage entwined design ,

the top opens to reveal a sandalwood interior

this carving is the finest quality from Mysore

only early examples have this much detail

as demand increased the carving got less detailed

a very similar example can be found in the V&A Museum Collection

which is also pictured in Furniture From British Indian And Ceylon

This box does not have a key
