For your consideration is an ancient greece origin, APULIAN ( southern Italy ) region, black ware class of circa.400 - 350 date, vessel in the form of a guttus.This scarceand very finest vessel displays much ofitsoriginal decorative detail & zoomorphic ( lion head ) form, it displays most of its original black glaze, the internal rim of the vessel is also finished in a black glaze. It has a short stem to its base ( see images ), a lions head protrudes form the spout section. The vessel is presented in a VF ( veryfine ) state of preservation, it has been repaired at its handle joint sections ( see images ).
