This is a fantastic estate find! It is an authentic sand painting by the Navajo Indians. Used in healing, a medicine man would build a sand painting and place the patient in the middle of it. Sand from the painting is rubbed on patient\'s body to aid in healing. When the ceremony is over, the sand painting is destroyed thus destroying the illness. This symbol is now appreciated as a work of art. Oak frame measures 6.25\" by 9.25\" with two blue mattes.
