A Franklin Mint engraved exact replica of a special colt 45 revolver. Made by Colt for John Wayne. Includes display frame. It is exact in every detail, and bears the same serial number of the real revolver, 151284. John Wayne\'s signature is engraved on the grip strap. The grips have a slight stained appearance and this is to replicate Duke\'s real grips that he soaked in tea to create the stained look. It is not designed to load bullets or fire them but the hammer, trigger and chamber all work.

First sold by Franklin Mint in February 1992. A similar replica was later issued for the Centenary celebration in 2007 but did not have the display frame and did not have his signature on the back of the grip.

Although this may look like a real gun this item is classified as a \"non-gun.\" It will not permit chambering or firing of ammunition nor can it be modified to do so. This is a replica of an antique firearm, in this case a Colt 45 patented in 1871 (i.e., a firearm developed prior to 1898). However, you can cock the hammer, sight down the barrel, and squeeze the trigger. This piece has been rarely handled nor overly \"dry-fired.\"

This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug. This non firing replica can not be made to fire.
