There are 12 plates in the collection and each plate represents a different month of the Oriental year, and combines flower and bird symbolizing that month.
White Crane and Pine are for January.
Here is a colorful and detailed plate from Franklin Porcelain depicting two stately white cranes surrounded by deep green pine trees and branches. It was created in 1979 by the artist Naoka Nobata and is part of her \"Birds and Flowers of the Orient \" collection. The plate is 10 1/4\" in diameter is crafted of fine Japanese porcelain with a 24K border and a surprising decoration on the back using elements of plant from the front. It is signed by the artist with her personal hanko. This comes in the original box with a little flyer telling about the plate.
