Large French 18th CenturyBronze Dore Ormolu and White and BlackMarble PorticoClock with Silk Suspension Movement, by Guydamour, inFully Working Condition

Animpressive early French bronze and marble porticoclock, dating to around 1790, by a very famous clockmaker.

Edme-Philibert Guydamour was born in Paris 28 September 1752. He was apprenticed in 1766 and received as a free Master clockmaker 14 August 1784. He established a business in Rue Saint Denis where he produced high quality clocks using cases by Osmond and F.Rémond. He died in Paris 17 January 1798 and his wife continued the business until 1810 when the stock was sold to Decaux. His clocks have sold at major sales of the world, some fetching in excess of $70,000.

The condition of this 225 year oldclockis varied. Original gilding is very good - bright and shiny, but with some expected wear in places. Casting isvery fine. The large early silk thread suspension movementstrikes perfectly and runs well.Marble has small chips in multiple places. Porcelain hand painted dial has multiple hairlines, is signed by Guydamour. Far right column had a break, but is well repaired, hardly noticeable.Much of the beaded trim is nowre-attached withtiny drops of transparent glue, also seems reasonably well done.Overall, this is a very impressive looking clock. I will include a key. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures 21\" high. This is a heavy and large clock, shipping will not be cheap. For international shipping, the clock will have to be partially disassembled.

I am not a clock dealer - I am a clock collector and a member of NAWCC. I currently havemore than200 clocks and I keep buying more, so I have to sell some. I would be selling many more if I had the time to list them...

Please note that I will not ship to an address that is different from the one listed by or PayPal unless the winning buyer can really prove to me that the address is legitimate. My prefered shipping for this is FedEx Home Delivery - UPS has been very bad at handling packages lately. Please note that FedEx shipments require destination\'s phone number, if does not have yours and you are concerned about releasing it to me, we can find an alternate method of shipping.
