VINTAGE ANTIQUE DAGUERREOTYPE

Up for sale is a genuine vintage antique 1/6th plate daguerreotype from the mid-1800s in its original leather covered case. This estate-find dag has an image of a young child that might possibly be a post-mortem photo. I offer that as a possibility based on the following aspects of the photo: 1. The young girl\'s hands are being held in a peculiar eay, almost as though they are rigid;2. There is a hand behind the child between the its upper back/lower neck and the chair, lokking as though the hand is propping the child up, preventing her from falling; 3. The person whose hand is behind the child is not otherwise present in the photo. Most old photos i\'ve seen of children either have just the child or the child with parent(s). The sole arm in the photo to me seems a bit odd; 4. The girl is standing on a chair, almost like a doll might be stood up and displayed; 5. The young girl has an open mouth and what I see as an empty stare. I leave it up to you to determine what it is or isn\'t based on those observations and the numerous photos.
The dag shows typical wear/erosion for these delicateitems. The case is very nearly separated at the binding/edge and only holds on literally by a thread (see photos). If care is used you can open and close, as well as \'lock\' the case with the two clasps/hooks.Thisestate pieceisoffered with a low opening price, and free shipping. Thanksfor looking!
