18th Century / Georgian Solid Silver Chased Berry Spoon, Hallmarked for London, 1775(ref: 3142)If purchasing or offerding on more than one item, please contact me for a combined invoicebefore paying for your items.This is a George III solid silver, bottom struck, berry spoon byStephen Adams Iand ishallmarked forLondon, 1775The spoon is in the old English pattern and has a lovely chased / bright cut engraved design on bothsides of the handle.Design on front of the handle.Design on the reverse of the handle.The spoon has an oval shaped bowl, which has a repousse fruit and berry design and chased leaves andcrimped edges. The interior of the spoon bowl is gilded with some minor wear to the gilding in places.The spoonhas a monogram present onthe handle, shown below.The spoonis fully hallmarked on the back of the handle (bottom struck):Date letter V for 1775 (sideways)Crowned leopard head for London assay office (sideways)Lion passantS(pellet)A (Makers mark)Actual hallmarks shown below.Size:204mm length42mm max spoon bowl widthCondition:No dents to the spoon bowl and no bending to the handle or spoon bowl edges.There is a line indent on the back of the spoon handle, which goes through some of the hallmarks,see close up photo below.There are some very minor surface marks, tiny scratches, tiny dinks to the spoon edges in places,these are consistent with age and use.Weight:Weight of item without packaging 44.9gItem will be well packed for dispatch.I do try to keep postal costs to a minimum, but packaging materials i.e bubble wrap,boxes, jiffy bags etc, are not cheap to obtain.
