A wonderful pair of 1925-30 French art deco lamps in nickel plated solid brass or bronze and pressed glass by the Paris based designer and producer of art deco lighting Pierre Gilles.Both shadessigned Gilles. One of the cast iron weights on the inside of the base is signed P.Gilles. Well restored original French art deco lamps of good quality are hard to find and online a rarity but pairs are even harder to get by.The lamps are about35,5 cm high (14\").And are in very good condition. One shade shows amoulding irragularity like many glasses of this model do. Which in fact is common for all French 1930 shades in moulded pressed glass. It´s without any importance and turned to the inside it wont show. I had this pair on my own desk for a year and never noticed the spot, see last picture. Thebases arerenickeled and patinated. Rewired with new cloth covered twisted cord and equiped with european E14 sockets. If you prefer I can place a B22 bayonet cap one. For the States Iwill rewire the lamps with US candelabra base sockets and US 2-prong plugs. I can also wire for Australia.
