Thislisting is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This wire features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated November 24, 1874. This wire is called \"Glidden\'s Two Point Barb on Five Lines, with Four Small and One Large Line (Barb on Large)\" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier858-B). This wire features five round line wires twisted together. There are four smaller gauge lines, which are twisted inparallel fashion with the larger barbed line. Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping a round barbing wire, twice around the larger line.Wire sample is 18-1/2\" in length. It shows age anduse wear withheavy pitting. There are six barbs, well spaced, but cut is not well centered. There is some bending ofpoints, and possibly one broken point. Wiresample is otherwise in good used condition.
