Mikhail Nik. Mikhailovskoe 1901\' and in Greek \'Khristoforos 9 May,\' suggesting that the Grand Duke gave this to one of his Greek relations. The most likely recipient was Prince Christopher of Greece and Denmark, whose older sister Princess Maria had married the Grand Duke\'s son Georgii Mikhailovich in 1900. The young couple lived at his father\'s St. Petersburg residence, Mikhailovskoe, and Christopher was likely visiting them on his name day and received this elegant pencil as a gift.
