GREEN FROCK COAT AND VEST, DATED 1917:

This is agreen wool frock coat and vest. Ina cutaway style, it\'s edged with black silk braid, the buttons are black silk in a checkerboard pattern. The coat is lined with black silk, the sleeves with white silk. The vest is lined with white cotton, the back is black silk satin. Both pieces have a label from Henry A. Ritchie & Co, of New York, with a January 12, 1917, date, inside an inner pocket.

The vest has five pockets, including a very small pocket that was most likely for a watch. You can see this above in the closeup. The metal buckle has a trefoil design and a blue steel finish.

The jacket measures 40\" around at the chest, 38 1/2\" around at the waist. It\'s 16\" between the shoulder seams in back, 34 3/4\" long, collar seam to hem. The sleeve is 22 1/2\", from the top of the shoulder, going with the curve, to the wrist. The vest is 40\" around at the chest, 38 1/2\" long in back, top of collar to the pointed edge. Please note that these are outside measurements.

Good condition. The shoulders and sleeve area have some overall fading, there are some light spots at one sleeve. About half of the sleeve lining, at the underarm, has torn. This damage is to the lining only. Collar and outer underarms are good. There are some small holes and some light spots to the front of the vest, shown above, some slight darkening from age, and a brownish spot, to the whitelining (only) of the vest. The silk backing is good. All buttons are present.

Color is a pleasing loden green, shown best in the closeup of the two buttons and sleeve, above.
