This book came from France and has been in my possession fora while. It is as far as I can tell, the second volume of a two volume set.There is no title on the first page, the only title is on the cover. There isalso no author. What is intriguing about this book is that it has a largenumber of engravings of famous French paintings, with a description about thepainting on the following page. There are a host of famous Italian and French namesrepresented: Poussin, Palliere, Girodet,Canova, Vernet and so on. Many of the last entries in the book are aboutNapoleon and have illustrations of Napoleon by various artists. These are dated,mostly from 1796 – 1814. The book is old and has some signs of it: The cornersare rubbed as is the spine, the hand stitched book has a few near separationsin the middle and some of the pages are foxed. Someone has numbered the pagesin pencil. There is no odor. The book is an interesting piece of French arthistory and quite rare.
