MasterZui is now 60+ years old but he is still making Damascus knife/axe byhimself with the primitive way. He uses charcoal as the source ofheat to soften the iron during the knife making process.MasterZui planned to quit making knife in the next few years.

MasterZui is actually the 5thgeneration of knife makingfamily. His father, grand father, great grand father and beyond wereChinese. The art and secret of making good knife has been transferredfrom generations to generations.

Today,Master Zui is still making his knife/axe with a primitive way but onlyusing some modern power tools in certain processes during a knifemaking. Master Zui does not reject modern power tools because herealized that certain processes can be done effectively with thesemodern power tools. However, many processes are being done bymanpower and primitive tools. With the perfect combination of modernpower tools and manpower, each Damascus knife/axe he made are unique. Thepattern on the blade is the result of 160 layers of iron sheetscombined together with heat and his secret formula to assure that allthese 160 layers perfectly combined into one piece of iron withoutgap. This will assure that there can\'t be oxidation inside the pieceof iron.
