Georg Adam Scheid Enamel 800 Silver Patch Box Vienna circa1890 Austria-Hungary Empire Presented is an incredibleGeorg Adam Scheid Enameled patch box. The lid is Painted Enamel (AKA\"Limoges\" Enamel). There is a very detailed floral and shore bird painting on the lid.The side of the boxisChamplevegeometric and floral decoration.The footed base is applied pierced silver scroll work. The inside of the box has a gold wash.Beautiful piece that presents very well.It was made in the late 19th Century in theCity of Vienna. Both thelid and within the bowl have the \'small articles\' hallmark for 800 silver (80% silver content). Both also have the G A S maker\'s mark.Within, the bowl also has German hallmarksand an 800 silvermark. I presume this was exported to Germany sometime post 1888.Thebox is13/4\" in diameterby 1 1/2\" tall. (4.4 by 3.8 cm, respectively). Heavy gauge metal --approximately 1.79Troy ounces.Very Good to Excellent Estate condition.Several scratches on lidthat do not penetratethe enamel. These can be faintly seen if you look very closely at the second picture -- justto the right of the birds. There are tiny missing pieces of enamelfrom the design on the side.Most are hard to seewithout magnification. Again, see pictures.No removals or repairs. No monograms.The piece is well designed and the lid closes tightly.
