Stunning early George III solid silver beer mug, unusually retaining a bright gilded interior. Baluster form with stepped collet base and double scroll handle with thumb rest. Hallmarked for London 1766 with maker\'s mark for Thomas Whipham II & Charles Wright (in the predecessing line of Edward Barnard).It measures 4 3/4\" high, 5\" rim to handle, 3 3/8\" across the foot and 3 1/8\" across the rim. It weighs 298g/9.6ozt. and it carries just under a pint (17 fl.oz). Condition is excellent; with minimal surface marks in or out. The base has a later dedication inscription.
