Fresh from a Maine estate is this incredibly rare mid-century table clock by George Nelson & Associates. The clock is in as found and original condition and shows its age with a fair amount of ‘patina’ surface wear on the wooden case as well as the metal tripod.

I was unable to find any other 4773A’s in my research, which should give you a sense for rarity.  I did find two #4773 Bs, and they were in white vs. the quintessential tangerine of this clock (they were sold by the same sale house, not sure if it may have been the same clock saleed twice).

The clock’s hands show some wear as well, an easy remedy but I wanted to offer the clock in completely ‘as found’ condition and leave conservation/restoration the decision of the buyer. The 4773B clocks had a red second hand - this one does not and I am not sure if it ever did. The clock is running well, seems to have its original cord and keeps good time.

Please consider the many photos as a key element of this item’s description.  From my research I found the following information: George Nelson & Associates table clock, Howard Miler Clock Company, USA, 1951, lacquered wood and steel, birch and mahogany, 4.75” w x 4” d x 7” h. The clock is signed with a partial Howard Miller Chronopak label and the model number 4773A is faintly etched into the wooden case (below six o’clock).  If you have read this far you likely appreciate the scarcity of this item as well as what some of the sale house comparables for it look like.  Not sure if this is a prototype, a one-off or just an incredibly rare clock.

My starting offer is obviously a fraction of sales results for the B, this is a sale with no Buy It Now - do not let this extremely rare clock escape you!
