Original letter written by George W. Newton to Elisha Wells Esq. Dated New York Sept. 9th 1862. The letter states \"I hear you are forming a company in Deerfield for the war. Will you please inform me if any of my acquaintancesare going with you and who they are. I have a n...? of \"going for a Soldier\" myself. I may get over it but in case I should not I want to go with a good party.. Direct care of Newton Brothers.\" Docketed on verso. Folds and creases. Some minor spots. 7.5\" x 9.75\".
