The world had never seen an army like the German army of WW2; as Winston Churchill once said, \"If it is to live in peace it must never see another\". Wehrmacht troops were outfitted with the K-98 Mauser and an accompanying bayonet produced by some of Germany\'s finest cutlers. This German Army WW2 WKC K-98 MAUSER BAYONET is in good condition, with some rounding and bending to the blade tip, heavy sharpening and some scattered chipping to the blade edge, some small nicks in the lower left blade spine, heavy overall abrading to the blued blade finish, the word \"PYONG\", two downward pointing chevrons, and several dots having been scratched into the left handle scale, moderate drying to the right handle scale, some scattered darkening to each handle scale, some cleaning to the guard, pommel, and back strap, and with some overall age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the bayonet is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 9.75\" blade that retains a bit of the original blued finish, boasts tough brown hardwood handle scales, and is stamped at the ricasso with the date, \"43\", along with the maker code \"cvl\", denoting manufacture by the famous WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co). WKC is the oldest and best known German sword company, and has been in continuous production of military edged weapons in Solingen since the late 1700s. It\'s marked at the reverse ricasso with the serial number \"6110\", carries two Waffenamts at the left side of the pommel, and is complete with an original German WW2 Steel Scabbard in good condition, with moderate cleaning, scratching, and patina at front and back, moderate overall abrading to the blued finish, a spot dent at the middle front, a deep dent at the lower front and the middle back, the initials \"R.K.\" having been deeply scratched into the lower front leather frog, a screw having been affixed to the lower right frog, a small hole in the upper middle back frog, missing the right side rivet from the frog, and with some overall age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it\'s stamped at the front throat with a serial number beginning with \"26\" (thus not matching the number on the bayonet), complete with the original black finished brown leather frog, and carries a Waffenamt at the back of the \"ball\" end tip.
