Offered for sale a vintage 1968 Gillette Aristocrat 1-9 Gold SlimAdjustable

doubleedge safety razor.

The bottom of the guard plate is labeledwith the Gillette diamond logo,

\"MADEIN U.S.A\", \"REG US PAT OFF\"

and thedate code \"N2\" (the safety razor was produced on the 2nd quarter of 1968)

The blade bed is stamped with \"PAT. NOS. ON PKG.\"

True,more upscale and pricier sets were made, but only for short periods of time,while the Aristocrat enjoyed fairly steady production until a decade long breakfrom 1951 to 1961. 1951 was the last year of production for the fixed headAristocrat, and it was completely identical to the 1948-1950 version (includingthe case). After a decade long absence, the Aristocrat made a comeback in 1961in the form of a gold-plated Slim Adjustable that came in an elongated hardplastic presentation case, and was produced until 1967 or 1968. This model hasthe distinction of being the last all metal gold-plated DE razor that Gilletteever produced (taken from the razorarchive).
