This sale is for M.I. Hummel figurine #136/1 TMK6, entitled \"FRIENDS\".It depicts a darling little girl in a red dress. She is gently feeding a young dear.This piece measures approximately 5\", a nice size. (Trees not included.)
Condition:No chips, cracks, or repairs. There is very minor crazing on the base. Background on M.I. Hummel Legacy
Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel (M. I. Hummel ) sketched drawings of children, whichbegan to appear in the 1930s on postcards in Germany and Switzerland. Franz Goebel, porcelain maker and head of W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik saw them and acquired rights to turn Hummel\'s drawing into figurines, producing the first line in 1935. By the end of the year, 46M.I. Hummelmotifs were on the market, sold in America at Marshall Field & Co. of Chicago and other American retailers.
After Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel’s death in 1946 at the age of 37, an Artistic Board was appointed at the Convent of Siessen as guardians of the legacy of Sister Hummel. The Convent of Siessen and Goebel work together to insure that the authenticity and decoration that Sister Hummel insisted on is still produce in the M. I. Hummel figurines. Today, M.I. Hummel figurines are the world\'s most beloved collectible, a tribute to the spirit of childhood and the talent of a brilliant artist. After 80+ years of collectible tradition, many collectors are still adding to their collection of M. I. Hummel Figurines.
