Yes, this Keokuk geode does have a thick shell comprised of blue chalcedony and calcite, but inside its hollow cavity its crystallization is amazing! Gotta love iridescent crystals! This one has two different naturally iridescent mineral crystals. The brown pseudocubic calcite calcite crystals lining its cavity are iridescent reflecting gold off of its crystals faces. There are also numerous chalcopyrite crystals present, the largest group being iridescent as well! Notice the multiple colors of red, gold and purple blue shining off of the chalcopyrite.Making this geode even more rare is the later growth of sharp pink dogtooth calcite crystals atop the brown calcite. This outstanding and rare find was found in Lee County, Iowa.
