Offeredis this lovely and unusual gilded silverplate basket with an elaborate repoussedesign, completed by hand. It is covered all over with gold plating.

Thesides, rim and handle are decorated with impressed designs of flowers andcurlicues. The bottom is smooth. The rim is fluted.

Thegold trim is applied so the darker silver design outlines the pattern, as youcan see in the photos.

Thispiece has a hallmark but we cannot identify the maker.

Thebasket measures 7.75 inches long (19.5 cm) and 7.25 inches wide (18.5 cm). Itstands 2 inches high at the rim (5 cm) and 6 inches high (15.3 cm) to the topof the handle.

Thisunusual piece is in good used condition.
